As the famous song says, “there ain’t nothing like the real thing”. Le Marche is the real thing, priding itself on being the “Genuine Italy”, not the over-commercialized, touristy version you find in Como or Tuscany. The local cheeses and wines here are the real thing…the Sibillini mountain panoramas are as real as it gets…and, for the faithful, Loreto is one of the most real religious sites on the planet. That’s the theme here in Le Marche – Real, True, Genuine, or “VERA” as the Italians say…VERA literally translates to “real”. There’s a house, a villa really, outside Loro Piceno that is the real thing. The owners resisted the common tendency to over-do it on restorations. They used a respectful hand and gently restored their home. Thank goodness they “kept it real”…The result is a beautiful, well-located character-rich villa that we call VILLA VERA – the real thing.

Just look at the photos of Villa Vera – isn’t that exactly what your mind’s eye says is the real thing here in Le Marche. Villa Vera is a best-in-class property in Le Marche. The house is thoughtfully and respectfully restored, maintaining lots and lots of the original features and character. In addition to respecting the way things were, you’ll love the fact that Villa Vera delivers modern, comfortable, contemporary living at its best. The winning stroke by the owners is that they managed to do both – keep the house true to its origins while making it a great place to enjoy your personal version of La Dolce Vita.

So, what’s so real about Villa Vera? You name it, from the classic arched entryway, to the internal archways, classic floor tiles, traditional gardens, old fireplace and the “pietra serena” steps in the grand entryway and the old beams throughout. Even the pool is the real thing – it’s the only saltwater pool we’ve seen in the area. The old brick exterior has been wonderfully restored to its original beauty. To show you how REAL Villa Vera really is, the owners found in the attic an old lithograph signed by Giuseppe Verdi, who once stayed in the house. It’s been restored, framed and now hangs in the impressive stairway landing.

You enter Villa Vera and you’re instantly drawn in by its comfort and light. There’s a real country kitchen (eat-in) that boasts a real stone sink! From there, there’s the formal dining room to once side and the stupendous outdoor loggia to the other. There’s also the big, grand entryway with arched portone (main door). The living room boasts lots of space, comfort and the original old fireplace. The ground floor enjoys luxurious underfloor heating. And there’s plenty light pouring into the house, as its fully southern exposure guarantees all day sunshine and dramatic sunrises and sunsets. Note, too, that the house is wired for sound, with music piped inside and outside.

The first floor boasts 3 bedrooms, all spacious, well-appointed and tastefully done. There’s a family bath and an ensuite on this floor which are nearly as big as most bedrooms in other houses! In fact, the ensuite is big, and includes a spacious dressing area. The master suite even boasts a fireplace (just look at the photo!). Proceeding up the wide staircase to the 2nd floor, there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom/laundry. So, Villa Vera has lots of flexibility – 5 bedrooms are there…you can use 3 or 4 and have room for an office, an entertainment room or a personal gym.

The build quality of Villa Vera is noteworthy, too. The ground floor is insulated using the IGLU system which guarantees savings on heating/cooling and removes humidity from the ground floor. The roof is insulated and the house has been built in accordance with anti-seismic standards.

Moving outside, the house, loggia, car park, gardens and pool area are all the real thing…the pieces designed into an harmonious whole. The loggia is incredibly inviting and sure to be the scene of your own genuine Marchigiana al-fresco dinners. The landscaping is classic and it’s all complete, so all you have to is kick back and enjoy its beauty. The pool is big at 12mx6m, and as mentioned earlier it’s a saltwater pool…can’t get any more real than that.

The plot at Villa Vera is comfortable at about 1.2 acres and it’s flat and completely usable. The views are fantastic from Villa Vera. They’re classic, expansive views of the Marche countryside and take in multiple hill-top towns and rolling fields of summer sunflowers, which frequently surround the house in summertime.

When it comes time to enjoy all the genuine offerings of Le Marche, Villa Vera is the real thing, too! The property is ideally located. It’s 2 or 3 minutes to the piazza of lively Loro Piceno with its restaurants, cafes, shopping and services. You can walk there from the house in 15 minutes – a rarity for a house this private and this big. Loro Piceno is an old Roman outpost that today is known for its lively civic life and festivals, it’s Vino Cotto dessert wine (just awarded the DOC designation), some of the areas best restaurants and one flamboyant butcher (you’ll have to see that for yourself as the REAL thing is hard to describe!). The historic hill-towns of Sant’Angelo in Pontano, San Ginesio and Mogliano are all within 5-15 minutes. Provincial capital, Macerata, with its university quarter, famous summer opera and elegant shops is 20 minutes from Villa Vera. Sea and mountains are equidistant at about 35 minutes.

So, If you’re looking for the real thing in Le Marche, look no further that Villa Vera…because, there ain’t nothing like the real thing…
