Immersed in the rolling hills of Umbria, Casa Fontefaggio is an ideal holiday villa. Restored to a high standard over the past two years, this stone-built house is located just 1km from the village of Fratticiola Selvatica, where there are two bars, a butcher, baker and well-stocked local supermarket. Reached by a short steep track, the house is well positioned to make the most of the wonderful views over the valley below, and the huge terrace will be your breakfast, lunch and dining room.
There is ample parking and entry into the house is to the side. On the ground floor there is a large living room with wonderful arches, fireplace and comfortable sofas. At the other end of the house there is a large kitchen which is equipped to a very high level – breakfast bar, microwave, dishwasher, oven, 5 gas hobs, fridge/freezer, washing machine/dryer, toaster, coffee machine, food blender and many more cooking utensils. Between the kitchen and living room there is a large dining room with seating for 10 people. Both this room and the kitchen have access to the huge terrace.
Stairs lead from the dining room to the first floor. Here there is a second living room with TV, DVD and CD player – complete with an excellent collection of DVDs. From this room there is a double bedroom and a twin/double bedroom with ensuite shower room. There is a very large third bedroom on the first floor which has twin/double beds. The family bathroom is large and has both a shower and bath.
Further stairs lead to the top of the house and the final two double bedrooms. They are both large rooms and very comfortable. Both bathrooms have both shower and bath – one being a spectacular free standing roll top bath. Throughout the house the bathrooms are of a standard rarely found outside 5 star hotels.
Much work and money has been spent on the restoration and the results are wonderful. The terrace stretches the length of the house and is equipped with dining table and chairs and enjoys marvellous views across the valley. The pool lies about 15m below the house and is the ideal spot to take in the sun and relax.
Casa Fontefaggio is a great house for families and groups of adults – the quality is high and the location ideal for those lazy days and evening BBQs. However with Perugia, Assisi and the wonderful town of Gubbio all within a 30 minute drive you will have reason to drag yourselves away from the pool and house. The small village of Fratticiola Selvatica has a newly opened local supermarket and bar and it is possible to walk the 1 km to collect supplies, it is uphill on the way.
